Congratulations to the 2025 parade award winners!

2025_parade_judgesEach year a panel of esteemed judges select aware winners in the Brookside St. Patrick's Warm-Up Parade. With all the amazing entries in the parade each year, judges have the difficult task of selecting winners in four categories: Best of Theme, Spirit Award, Best Music and the Grand Prize. Award winners were selected by 2025 judges: Diane Euston, Writer, Greater Kansas City Historian; Ashtin Bryde, General Manager, The Roasterie Brookside Café; and Terry Engling, Retired Admin Director of Support Services & Community Relations at HCA Research Medical Center.

Justin and Leslie Hernandez Named 2025 Mr. and Mrs. Irish for Brookside’s St. Patrick’s Day Warm-Up Parade

Justin, owner of Jalapeno’s Brookside, 6318 Brookside Plaza, embodies the spirit of community, tradition, and celebration that makes this event so special. “Being named Mr. Irish is an incredible honor—not just for me, but for my family. This parade is all about tradition, and I love that my kids get to experience it in such a special way,” said Justin. “My kids think it’s awesome for mom and dad get to be honored in the parade.”

As the Executive Producer and Host of KCUR’s Up to Date talk show, as well as a Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), Steve has earned a reputation for his commitment to the community, thoughtful dialogue, and dedication to uncovering important issues and has regularly featured Brookside business experts and the history of Brookside. His role as Grand Marshal is a well-deserved recognition of his dedication and service. Congratulations, Steve!
