Small Business Saturday is a national campaign occurring annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving and meant to encourage people to shop locally. The shopping tradition started in 2010 during the recession and has been a major champion for small business ever since. According to American Express, small business owners generated an estimated $15.4 billion dollars on Small Business Saturday in 2016.
