The city’s first large art event of the season kicks off later this month when the Brookside Art Annual celebrates its 31st year on April 29th, 30th and May 1st. Established in 1985 as a neighborhood festival, the Brookside Art Annual has grown into a regional event, having recently been rated one of the Top 20 Art Shows in the nation by Art Source. A total of 185 of the top artists from around the country will be showing their artwork right in the heart of Brookside. The show draws upwards of 70,000 people from all over the metropolitan area to the Brookside shopping district for the three-day event.
The Brookside Shops have been fulfilling J.C. Nichols’ vision for the absolute best in neighborhood shopping, dining and services for nearly a century. Generations of Kansas Citians have turned to the Brookside Shopping District to meet their everyday needs along with the extraordinary, too. Located in the area of 63rd Street, between Main Street and Wornall Road, over 80 shops, restaurants, and service providers call this area home.
