Celebrate the Holidays at World’s Window

World's WindowThere's always something interesting to see "through the windows" at World's Window. The front window displays showcase their interesting mix of clothing, accessories, gifts and folk art. For the holiday season, one section of windows is filled with their annual nativity show of more than 150 nativities from around the world. Owners Jan and Lonnie Buerge love watching customers pause in front of the window to gaze at all the ways the creche is portrayed throughout the world. Nativities are made of corn husks, discarded oil drum metal, seed pods, wool felt, carved stone, olive wood and orange peel.

This month the other set of front windows features Noelle, their holiday tree spirit who is hosting a party in the window and will share gift ideas and going-to-party wear throughout the holidays. Whether made by artists in the Kansas City and the United States or the artisans from around the world, the staff at World's Window love helping customers find gifts for everyone on their holiday lists and helping women shoppers find new outfits.

Each holiday season the staff hand-make thousands of bows to wrap gifts in the unique World's Window signature style. While gift-wrapping is free, donations are accepted with all monies going to Rose Brooks Center. Rose Brooks was also the recent recipient of more than 400 coats and sweaters donated by customers and sorted by World's Window staff. For the past 30 years in operation, the Buerges have hosted charity events for numerous area organizations. It is part of their mission to not only offer the best in gifts and clothing, but also to foster connections between customers, our community and our larger world. World's Window is open 7 days of week at 332 West 63rd Street just East of Wornall Road. 816-361-2500.
