The 35th Annual Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Warm-up Parade - March 14th

2015 Brookside St Patrick's Warm-up ParadeIt's the wearing of the green in Brookside for the 35th Annual St. Patrick's Day Warm-up Parade, Saturday, March 14th at 2PM, in the Brookside Shopping District.

More than 100 organizations representing groups and families of all ages participate in this fun, family-oriented event. Parade entries march or ride in a variety of vehicles from red wagons to floats to classic cars. Entries include bands, drill teams, Irish dancers, the Jackson County Sheriff Mounted Patrol, and dogs of all shapes and sizes including Basset Hounds, Great Danes and of course, Irish Setters.

Councilwoman Jan Marcason will be the Grand Marshall. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ward, owners of Brookside Toy, have been named this year’s “Mr. and Mrs. Irish.” Locally owned and operated since 1964, the Brookside Toy & Science store has delighted generations of children with classic toys and games that never grow old -- plus today’s newest, most creative toys, dolls, games and collectibles. The store recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

The annual Brookside parade occurs on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day and kicks off a spirit-filled week in Kansas City celebrating St. Patrick's Day. The Brookside Business Association and the Kansas City Neighborhood Tourism Fund sponsor the event.
