Over 180 of the top artists from around the country are juried into the show under 15 categories from 2-D to 3-D work, painting to photography, and ceramics to jewelry. Whether from well-established or emerging artists, the show brings national talent right to the heart of Brookside. The annual show draws upwards of 70,000 people from all over metropolitan KC and beyond to the historic Brookside Shops over the three-day event. We also offer a kid-approved meal Saturday morning with a Chris Cakes pancake breakfast for only $5 (all you can eat pancakes, sausage links and Tang (just like the astronauts drank).

Meet 2019 featured artist Brian Jensen.

Brian-Jensen Each year we select a featured artist to prepare artwork to represent the show. This year we’re honored to be working with renowned painter and illustrator Brian Jensen of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Brian has been painting since childhood. “As a child I spent time on Minnesota lakes, and especially enjoyed spotting classic wooden boats. I started painting and drawing at a young age and painted with my father, a graphic designer.” After graduating from the Minneapolis college of art and design, he went on to a career as an illustrator where he developed his style illustrating for magazines and book publishers. Now he uses his skills to paint his favorite subjects. “I love to explore the beauty of lakes, landscapes, urban life, vintage boats, cars and motorcycles.” His love for painting shows in his vibrant painting of Brookside. The featured work includes a vintage car and several historic Brookside buildings. A perfect fit this year as we celebrate Brookside’s 100th Anniversary.

We’ve got merch.

Want a keepsake from the show? We’ve got you covered. The featured artwork will be printed on shirts, posters, banners and note cards available for purchase during the show. The merchandise is a great way to remember the show. They’re also great to display at home or work and make great gifts for friends and family who love Brookside (or just love great art). Featured artist Brian Jensen will be available throughout the show to sign merchandise. And for the serious collectors, Brian will have the featured painting for sale!

Volunteers Needed.

Another great way to enjoy the show is to volunteer. Volunteers help direct guests at the information booth, deliver meals to artists, sell show merchandise, and booth sit so artists can have a well-deserved break during the show.
